- Description: Natural form from the Oligocene (approx. 30 million years ago), with many layers of wavy lines, standing on a stand.
- Additional information: Gogotts are undoubtedly among the most extraordinary objects created by nature: they are sources of inspiration for artists and can be found in the largest private collections and museums. From a geological point of view, a Gogotte is a sandstone concretion with silica cement. It consists of sand grains held together by silica, which is deposited by the water circulating in the sand layer. Chemically speaking, a Gogotte consists almost entirely of silica and therefore has more or less the same composition as a quartz crystal.
