- Size: H45cm W33cm D12cm
- Description: Gigantopectens restitutensis shells, 20 to 16 million years old, in original matrix. This natural composition highlights the interesting texture and three-dimensional depth of each specimen. The Pecten shell is one of the most typical ornaments of Mediterranean Renaissance architecture and can be found on most buildings of this period. As this specimen proves, its aesthetic appeal has not diminished over time.
- Additional information: These fossil bivalves (Pectens), preserved in their final form, are the ancestors of today's modern (edible) scallop. The host rock surrounding them has been stripped away to reveal their details.
