- Description: Stony meteorites typically break apart or explode high in Earth's atmosphere before impacting; therefore most specimens are small. This large, complete example is one of the exceptions. This complete meteorite has a thin layer of molten crust and also shows several regmaglypts covering most of its surface. The meteorite comes with a custom-made wooden base.
- Additional information: Chondrite, generally any stony meteorite characterized by the presence of chondrules. Chondrule, small, round particles embedded in most stony meteorites called chondrites. Chondrules are typically about one millimeter in diameter and consist primarily of the silicate minerals olivine and pyroxene. The textural and chemical relationships indicate that they were formed at high temperatures as dispersed, molten droplets, which then solidified and condensed into chondritic masses. This process took place in space in ancient times, before the planets formed.
